NYC Halloween Street Closures 2026: Trick or Streets Guide

Halloween 2026 lands on a Saturday, October 31. The city is closing a lot of streets to cars. NYC DOT lists 127 car-free events on that day alone, on top of the Village Halloween Parade. If you live in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens or the Bronx, there is a good chance a block near you is shut.

Order early. Place your MetroBud order Wednesday, October 28 to Friday, October 30 for the smoothest delivery. Order on Halloween and expect delays, especially in the afternoon and evening. Our drivers cannot get onto blocks that are closed to cars. Shop now.

This guide covers the Trick-or-Streets program, the full list of October 31 closures by borough, and the Village Halloween Parade. It also shows you how to make sure your order reaches you. Every closure below comes from NYC DOT and the Mayor’s Office. The city can update the list, so check the live version before you head out.

What Is Trick or Streets 2026?

On September 30, 2026, Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced the largest-ever Trick-or-Streets. That means 160 car-free Open Streets and plazas citywide throughout October. NYC DOT is handing out 75,000 pieces of candy.

The mayor’s line: “The only cars you should see at Trick-or-Streets are the ones made of cardboard, powered by two legs and fueled by a lot of sugar.”

These are city events. Read the Mayor’s Office announcement and the NYC DOT Trick-or-Streets page for the official word.

Village Halloween Parade 2026 Street Closures

The 53rd annual Village Halloween Parade steps off Saturday, October 31 at 7 PM and runs to about 11 PM, rain or shine. The 2026 theme is “Body & Soul.” Joey Arias is Grand Marshal. It airs live on NY1. Details are on the official parade site.

The Route

  • The parade goes north on Sixth Ave from Canal St to 15th St.
  • Costumed marchers enter between 6:30 and 9 PM from Broome, Sullivan and Canal St, east of Sixth Ave.
  • North and west access to Sixth Ave is blocked by 6:30 PM.
  • The densest crowds are from Bleecker St to 14th St.

What DOT Has Published

DOT lists Sullivan St, from Broome to Spring St, closed 7 to 11:30 PM for parade formation. The NYPD has not published its 2026 closure list yet.

Based on Past Years

This is not the 2026 list. It is what the NYPD closed in past years, so use it as a rough guide only:

  • Sixth Ave from Canal/Spring St up to W 18th St.
  • The formation streets: Dominick, Sullivan, Broome and Spring.
  • Dispersal streets W 16th to 18th St, plus parts of Fifth and Seventh Ave in the 14th to 19th St area.

Our pickup spot is at W 26th St and 7th Ave in Manhattan. That is north of the 14th to 18th St dispersal zone, but traffic around Chelsea can still be heavy Halloween night.

NYC Marathon Is the Next Day

The NYC Marathon runs Sunday, November 1, 2026. The 2026 course changes in the Bronx (E 135 St, Alexander Ave, E 141 St, Third Ave, E 138 St). Official closure times are not published yet. Expect more closures along the route on Sunday.

How to Order From MetroBud Around Halloween

We deliver in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx, by car, motorcycle or scooter. Here is the play:

  • Stock up early. Order Wednesday, October 28 to Friday, October 30 for the smoothest delivery.
  • Halloween orders run slower. Saturday is a normal 11 AM to 11 PM day for us, but expect delays, especially in the afternoon and evening when the most streets are closed and the parades run.
  • Drivers cannot drive onto car-free blocks. If your block is on the list above, put the nearest open cross street in your order notes. Be ready to meet the driver at the corner with your ID. Some addresses inside closed zones may not be reachable during event hours.
  • Beat the evening rush. Last call is 10:30 PM Saturday.

Payments: cash, crypto or card. You must be 21+ with a valid government ID. Browse the full menu, start with flower, or check the delivery areas to confirm we cover you.

MetroBud was founded in 2020 by two brothers, both combat veterans. We are family-owned, and we know NYC streets.
